NextGen Youth Ministry

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

NextGen consists of 13-18 year old individuals from all walks of life. We are set on experiencing God for who He really is, and developing a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. At every meeting our youth gather to worship God through music, relationships, media, and a relevant message. NextGen meets every Friday night at 7:30pm in the main sanctuary of River of Life.

NextGen is not just a fancy name for our youth group but that’s who they are --- the Next Generation --- Next Generation of worshippers, leaders, brothers, sisters, friends, etc. Our vision and prayer is to see this Next Generation of teenagers rise up to a life of excellence in their families, schools, communities, friends, and relationships--- in every area of their lives for the glory of God. This begins with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As our teenagers understand, realize and feel, the awesome love of Jesus Christ and His plans for their lives, they will naturally live a life of excellence as a lifestyle of worship unto their Savior, Friend and Lord Jesus Christ. In short… the vision is to empower the youth to live a life of victory and excellence in every area of their lives for the glory of Jesus Christ…to be the salt and light they are called to be.

The Apostle Paul adds in 2 Timothy 1:7 that “God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” I’m sick and tired of allowing the world to mold the minds of our teenagers to a life of mediocrity and defeat! It’s time to take back what the enemy has stolen from our youth and to break that ignorance of defeat. Our teenagers are sons and daughters of the Most High God. Jesus shed His blood for our teenagers that they may have eternal life and experience the abundant life --- a life of excellence, joy, peace, love and victory --- in Christ!

We also want our teens to take their faith outside of the four walls of the church and into their communities, schools, families, and friends. We want our teens to discover and understand the heart of Jesus Christ towards His children especially to the ones who are lost, in need, or hurting. In doing so, teenagers will understand how blessed they are and that they can be used to bless others. We have partnered with the Outreach Team to seek opportunities where teenagers can participate in this on a more regular basis.

Friends, we serve a big God! He is doing new things in the lives of our teens. Our Lord Jesus Christ is marching our teens into victory and excellence. He is rising up a Next Generation of worshippers who will worship Him in spirit and in truth in every aspect of their daily lives. God is doing miracles in this ministry and in the lives of our teenagers. And we are SO excited to get to know EACH and every teen that comes our way!
